Sweeter than Chocolate | Valentine's Day-Inspired Marriage Proposals

A dozen velvet red roses or a heart-shaped box of decadent chocolates usually does the trick for Valentine's Day, but if you want to make this year's February 14th sweeter than chocolate, try adding an engagement ring to the mix with these five Valentine's Day-inspired proposal ideas.

#1  Follow Your Heart

Using the classic miniature candy hearts, lay a trail from the front door to you on one knee with the ring.  For that extra touch of sweetness, have the last candy heart at the end of the trail say, "Marry Me".

#2  You Never Know What You're Gonna Get

Forrest Gump said it best:  "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get."  With a heart-shaped box of his or her favorite chocolates, replace one of the chocolates with an engagement ring in its place.  When your partner opens the box, get down on one knee and pop the question.

#3 Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

"Roses are red, violets are blue.  Will you be mine forever and ever, because I love you?"  Glue several pages of a pocket journal together, carving a heart in the middle of them.  On the remaining blank pages, write love letters and original love poems.  Put the ring in the carved out heart before gifting it to your partner.

#4  The Perfect Fit

Ask your partner to put together a puzzle with you (Order a customized puzzle that's a photo of you two together).  Hide one piece in your pocket, so when it's down to that ONE missing piece, you can pull out the ring and pop the question to the one who makes your life complete.

#5  Rise and "Shine"

Before they wake up, slip the ring on their finger.  Wake them up with breakfast in bed, complete with mimosas and chocolate-covered strawberries.  At first they'll just think it was a romantic Valentine's Day gesture, until they notice the shiny ring on their finger!
